Dr. Ganapathi Krishnamurthi
12-Nov-1944 – 20-Dec-2025
“You go make yourself a cup too.”
Last words from a loving husband to a wife who brought him a cup of his favourite drink. Losing consciousness after praying to some of the deities he was fond of, Krishnamurthi Ganapathi passed away peacefully a few hours later on Saturday, the 20th of December.
Gentle and soft spoken. Curious, intelligent and funny. He lived a simple and unassuming life – an accomplished engineer, a supportive brother, an encouraging father/in-law, a loving husband, and likely the biggest fan of his grandson.
He was not one to follow the herd, and in that spirit, he made a bet on moving to a new land later in life and starting over. His perseverance in facing the many challenges that followed is something we can all admire and learn from. A wanderer at heart, his life took him to unexpected places and blessed him with unforeseen adventures.
Unpretentious and humble, he wanted to be known for his ideas, philosophy, and values. From classic Tamil music to Kraftwerk, movies like Tenali to Aliens and literature from Grisham to Bharatiyaar, he lived life with an interest in anything and everything, bridging east and west without prejudice.
Along with his close family and friends, he leaves behind a loving wife who was the center of his world, a son that he was profoundly proud of, a daughter-in-law who he felt reassured by, and a grandson whom he cherished and by whom he was constantly delighted. His presence, quiet wisdom, and gentle humour will be missed by all who met him.
His last words “Guruvayurappa, Guruvayurappa, Muruga Thinniam. Muruga, pillayarappa Narayana”.
